There is no better way to experience Kyiv than by walking. This short introduction to Kiev will give you a comprehensive overview of the city. You’ll get an opportunity to see all the most important sights of Kiev and learn about its history.
The tour starts from the main street of Kyiv, Khreshchatyk. You’ll be informed about the longstanding history of the street. Then we will take a look into one of the oldest musical theatres in Ukraine, the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Taras Shevchenko, located at crossroads of two central highways of Kyiv – Bogdan Khmelnytsky and Volodymyrska street. Subsequently, we’ll visit the Golden Gate, the main gate of the ancient city and one of the most important historicalmonuments today. Then we’ll walk across St.Sophia Square and its opposite, St.Michael's Square. There we’ll observe St.Sophia Cathedral, which is included in UNESCO World Heritage list, and St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery which was demolished by the Soviets in the 1930s and rebuilt in 1999. Afterwards, we’ll walk along Andriyvsky Uzviz, one of the famous historic streets in the city, with its fine architecture and rich past, with its pearl – St. Andrew’s Church. Our way will continue through Podil, one of Kyiv's oldest districts, with numerous architectural and historical landmarks, and the Post Square. In a while, we’ll reach our final destination the Independence Square.
