After careful study, the British BBC Broadcasting Corporation decided to change the spelling of Ukraine’s capital in English from "Kiev" to "Kyiv". This rule of writing the capital of Ukraine in texts, maps and charts will come into effect on BBC, starting from October 14, 2019.
The Wall Street Journal has joined the Associated Press and Webster's New World College Dictionary in using the spelling Kyiv for Ukraine's capital instead of Kiev. This is reported by CorrectUA campaign on Facebook. However, a popular Ukrainian dish Chicken Kiev is an exception. And the old spelling will be left there.
