Today, August 24, Ukraine celebrates the Independence Day. In Kyiv celebrations started from the Dignity Movement with the participation of President Volodymyr Zelensky. A lot of events will be held in the capital and other corners of Ukraine on this day.
It should be mentioned that for the first time the Independence Day of Ukraine was celebrated on 16 July 1991, but not on August 24. The fact is that when the Verkhovna Rada of the USSR adopted the Declaration on State Sovereignty of Ukraine on July 16, 1990, at the same time a resolution was adopted to commemorate the Day of Independence on this day. The Independence Day of Ukraine was assigned on August 24 by a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on February 20, 1992.
