Looking for a taxi in Kyiv? Uber offers a cheap way of getting around Ukraine’s capital. Moreover, the company has launched Uber has launched a new minibus booking service in Kyiv, which will run in selected areas within the city - Uber Shuttle, according to Ukrinform.
As the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan has noted, Kyiv is the first city in Europe where Uber Shuttle project is being implemented.
At the same time, Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klytschko said that Uber Shuttle does not belong to public transport, it is only an additional service. "This is not a private bus called ‘marshrutka’, it's a big taxi, which is cheaper than an ordinary taxi. This is an empty segment between ‘marshrutkas’ and taxis," Klytschko said.
He emphasized that Uber Shuttle cars are of high quality and security, and licensed. "By August Uber plans to provide 50 such cars," he added.
Uber officials emphasized that this project will use transport that meets European standards of safety, comfort and environmental friendliness. They stressed that they would act as partners in public transport.
Uber is an American company that has created the same mobile application to search, call and pay of taxi or private drivers. It is available in more than 200 large cities in 67 countries. In Ukraine, Uber began work in 2015. The service does not work directly with the drivers, but through the intermediary companies. Today, Uber services are available in Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhia and Vinnytsa.
